A 2,500 mile bike ride from Istanbul to Leeds to raise funds for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal
On July 25th, Mike and Rebecca Tomlinson will set off on the Jane Tomlinson Appeal's latest challenge.
Together with a team of fellow cyclists they will set off on a 2,500 mile bike ride from Istanbul to Leeds.
The Tomlinson family will be joined by family and friends who will also take on the challenge of travelling through 12 countries over 5 weeks.
As they travel across Europe you will be able to watch their progress through daily blogs and the latest pictures.
To date the Appeal has raised £3million for children's and cancer charities nationwide. Through this event and with your support we hope to get one step closer to the new fundraising target of £5million.
I’m pleased to say that we all arrived safely in Leeds yesterday, as always on these type of trips it the first and only concern. I think it was an outstanding effort from everyone but I admit to having the easiest of trips, John and Stuart who pushed heavy tandems on long days; Holly Chloe, [...]

Jane set off on three long distance bike rides which culminated in 2006 ‘Ride Across America’ from San Francisco to New York; 4000 miles in nine weeks. Our odyssey of 2500 miles in five weeks doesn’t compare in terms of scale or effort. The terrain we have covered has been nowhere near as demanding of [...]
I am in Ypres with mum, dad, laurie and the Hindes. I haven’t had access to the internet that often which is why this is my first and probably last blog!
Me, John, Stuart, Becca and Mike have cycled all of the way and Laurie, Holly, Chloe and Steven have done parts of it. The riding [...]
Now in Ieper, so have come far enough to make a few observations.
1. The drive down to Istanbul with Dave, Nigel (”Shrek”), and (Big) Al was easily the most laughs I’ve had on the trip. Ash – my co-driver – would perhaps agree. Most anecdotes are unprintable, but the tone was set when we stopped [...]
